Homes is a production homebuilder who builds houses throughout
Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. They consider themselves a
semi-custom homebuilder because of the vast options they offer
homebuyers.
In order to explore new technologies and building
specifications, S&A Homes collaborates with Building America
team leader IBACOS and another Alliance member, East Liberty
Development, Inc., to build energy efficient homes in the East
Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA.
The community in East Liberty features technologies and strategies
seldom used in a production setting in Pittsburgh, including 100%
energy efficient lighting, tankless water heating, and an
integrated ventilation strategy and air distribution system
routing.
Their Urban Division is focused on building affordable, high
performance homes in urban infill settings. S&A Homes intends
to take many of the lessons learned on the East Liberty project and
incorporate them into standard practices for all of their
divisions.
